4. Website Analytics and Tracking Technologies

We measure how people use this site so we can improve it. We built our own analytics rather than relying only on outside services, and we designed it to collect as little as possible.

What our own analytics records

• A random, anonymous ID stored in your browser to tell one visit from another. It is not linked to your name, email, or any donor or volunteer record.
• Pages you view, the site that referred you, and campaign tags in the link you followed.
• Approximate location (country, region, and city) and your device type, browser, and operating system.
• Where you click and how far you scroll, so we can see which parts of a page people actually use.

What we do not do

• We do not store your IP address. Location is approximated by our host at the moment of the request and never saved.
• We do not sell your information, and we do not track you across other websites.
• We do not use this data to identify you personally. Our own analytics recognizes your browser with a random ID saved on your device, not with a tracking cookie.

Your choice

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, our analytics records nothing at all. You can turn Do Not Track on in your browser settings.

Third-party services

Some services we rely on set their own cookies and follow their own privacy policies. Donations are processed by Zeffy. Volunteer sign-ups are handled by Kindness Counts. Our newsletter runs on MailerLite, and contact form messages are delivered through Resend. We may also use analytics and advertising tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, Google Ads, and Meta. These tools may use cookies to measure our campaigns and, in the case of advertising tools, to show our messages to people who have visited this site.

Essential cookies keep the site working. For example, if we are testing two versions of a page, a small cookie remembers which version you saw so the site stays consistent as you browse. If you have questions about any of this, email contact@dreamsofkindness.org and we will answer plainly.
